What is PC™?
Better bikes for smaller humans.
Project Compact™ is not a new model, it is our optimised geometry for the three smallest sizes we offer across all models (48, 50 and 52cm).
These bikes feature steeper seat angles, taller headtubes and zero-offset seatposts, which makes it possible for smaller riders to sit less stretched out on their bike, without compromising the handling and stability of the bike through very short stems and reduced reach common on smaller sized frames.
But it doesn’t stop there. The positions facilitated by our Project Compact™ geometry are better both aerodynamically and biomechanically (and we think aesthetically too). The steeper angles mean riders sit further inside the reach, shifting the center of gravity towards the centre of the bike and creating a more compact position, reducing frontal drag. This position also opens the rider’s hip angle, increasing pedalling efficiency and power transfer.
The end result is a bike that handles better, is more comfortable, more efficient and looks more balanced.

Product FAQ

What is the Pfadfinder made of?
It's built with premium, Italian Columbus Steel tubing, completely welded and painted in Europe and assembled at our home in Berlin. It has Stainless Steel dropouts, which are custom 3D-printed just for the Pfadfinder.
What is the maximum tyre clearance on the Pfadfinder?
38mm actual width (as measured, noting labelled tyre width can change with rim width).
What kind of riding is the Pfadfinder made for?
At heart it's a road bike, built to maximise comfort for rides of every length. Thanks to a less aggressive geometry than the Kreissäge and very generous tyre clearance, the Pfadfinder can happily tackle a huge variety of road surfaces. It's easily the most versatile road bike we've ever made.
What is included in the Frameset option?
In the box you will get the frame, fork, headset, headset expander, bottom bracket (of your choice), inlay set for all groupset options, thru-axles and a seat clamp.
Is the Pfadfinder compatible with 650b wheels?
Yes, but please take into account the lower BB drop and the effects on handling.
Can I fit mudguards to my Pfadfinder?
Yes, easily! There are built-in mounts for fixed mudguards.
Can I fit a pannier rack on the Pfadfinder?
No, although there are top tube mounts for an additional small bag. You can mount a pannier rack on our Erdgeschoss model.
Why should I choose a steel bike?
Steel offers a magical ride quality that you can't find on bikes made with any other material. It is comfortable, with an amazing spring in its step and still plenty stiff enough for almost anyone (it was certainly good enough for Merckx). Plus, when maintained properly, steel lasts a very, very long time, is very repairable and doesn't have to end up in landfill like carbon when the time finally comes.
Does the Pfadfinder have any anti-corrosion treatment?
Absolutely, it is built to last a lifetime. The Pfadfinder has been phosphate dipped and the frame internals powder coated to help prevent rust and corrosion. We still recommend proper maintenance to guarantee getting the most out of your beautiful steel frame. Find everything you need to know in our Steel Care Guide.
Do you ship internationally?
We sure do! We ship framesets nearly anywhere in the world with our premium delivery partner DHL Express. We can also ship complete bikes almost anywhere, except the USA. Shipping rates are calculated live in cart so you'll always get the best rate available. Read more about Shipping and Delivery here.
