STANDERT X BERLIN BICYCLE WEEK

 Photos by Constantin Gerlach

Last week was insane, in a good way. On monday the Berlin Bicycle Week kicked off with a book launch party at the Gestalten Space. On Thursday it was our turn. As part of the “Long Night Of The Bike Shops” we threw ourselves a little party together with our team sponsor Bulleit Whiskey. And with little party we mean that we had a completely packed shop. It was an awesome night. Thanks to everybody for coming out. On Friday we still had some time for final preparations of our booth and we were good to go for the Fahrradschau. All set up we welcomed the first visitors at our booth at 6pm. It was so nice to see all these friendly faces of the global cycling community again and have some chats and a drink (as we had our own bar, very practical). We had a lot to show. Like our two new Triebwerk colors, our two new commuter models, our all new crit machine Kreissäge, the Erdgeschoss and of course the new Umlaufbahn in the Team Fixedpott design. On Friday it was also racing time for Eike as the Junkyard Cross took part. He raced some very strong first laps until a puncture forced him out of the race. After that we still had a very good time until the show closed it’s doors at 11pm. Saturday was busy as usual, for us at the booth and for the riders of Team Standert as well. First Peter and Silvio raced the Trek E-Derny and finished it on the 3rd place. But we think it’s important to mention that Silvio rode a cyclocross bike against the others on Madones. Why? Well let’s say the Trek he rode before couldn’t quite handle his power output. At the show we had a really good time. Meeting friends and making new ones. Hanging out and having a drink. We really like to think that our Bulleit Whiskey bar was very well accepted by the visitors. Maybe some exhibitors should try something like this next year instead of Bunnies or Ferraris. As the evening came closer Team Standert was already warming up at the Kartbahn in Neukölln for the Rad Race Last Man/Woman Standing. After the show closed it’s doors the rest of us rolled over to the race to cheer for our teammates. Unfortunately the boys didn’t make it further than the second round, but Marion (last years winner) rode her way into the final. A final packed with some tough international competitors. The atmosphere was awesome and there was a big party going on at the sideline of the race. In the race Marion was stuck behind some riders after the start and worked here way through the field. In the end she got a pretty good 4th place and the fastest lap overall. After the race is the afterparty. And after the party it’s pretty late/early and time to get ready for the show again. What a party it was! Sunday. After a few coffees we were all good to go and had a fun last day at the show. We want to thank everybody for stopping by and hanging out with us. See you soon! Special thanks to Rebel & Sons for building our slick booth and to Accidental Concrete (now Deture) for making our awesome concrete labels.
