After a short summer break in the race calendar it was on again. The Rad Race Last Woman and Last Man Standing at the Heidbergring was on. As leading team in the series we went there with a wide spread roster.
Marion in the women’s fixed field. Max, Alex, Consti and Silvio in the men’s fixed field. Magnus, Peter and Bene in the men’s road field. We were ready for a fine day of racing, a lot of fun with the #critfam and even the weather seemed to be on our side. The day started pretty solid with all of us going quite relaxed through the first round. Well, Consti who’s normally not racing miscalculated his final sprint a bit and from then on did what he does best: taking photos. Max and Alex made it to the quarter finals and Silvio easily reached the final. Marion also made it to the final. Magnus reached the semi final. Peter and Bene made it into the final. But before the finals started there was the “All Out War” race which allowed all those who didn’t make the first round to try again against each other. A big field started and Consti did too. He sat comfortably in the leading group all race and then sprinted to 3rd place at the end. During the All Out War race it started raining really bad. That meant finals in the pouring rain. Bene and Peter started with the road final which Bene had to leave as first rider as rain just isn’t his thing, he took 8th place. Peter got the situation a bit better under control but unfortunately lost contact to three riders that broke away, so he took 4th. Marion was next. In a power stacked ladies field she rode a superb race and positioned herself well until it was down to three. In a fast sprint against Johanna Jahnke and Karla Sommer she saved her spot for the last lap and it was one on one. With a striking attack out of the last hairpin she put some daylight between herself and Karla and finished it off. Victory for Marion! Now it was Silvio’s turn in the men’s fixed final. A field full of Red Hook Crit racers was ready to rumble. And it was still raining. The first lap already was fast as hell and coming to the line the field was spread wide all over the track. Silvio had the speed but just couldn’t find a gap and was out. 10th place for Silvio after dominating his rounds before. That’s bike racing. After a long day of racing we were tired and happy to chill with all our friends. But everything has an end and we had to race the Uckermärkiche Meisterschaft the next morning (where Bene finished 11th). Time to pack all our rain soaked stuff and hit the road again.
