On Easter Monday the road racing season has officially begun. The team has been preparing quite well over the winter months with track training, some gym sessions and the training camp on Mallorca. What we couldn’t train was the real race situation. So we had a little plan in mind and thought from there we’ll go with the flow. This actually worked pretty well. Silvio got into the race winning breakaway and stuck to it for the majority of the race. The rest of us spend the time at the front of the pack responding to the counter attacks that tried to bridge to the break. Unfortunately Silvio then ran out of fuel and had to let them go. Closing the gap now wasn’t possible anymore and the team prepared for the sprint of the field. Alex and Peter rode the last two laps on the front and controlled the pace. Then Bene moved up through the pack in the last lap and found Maxes wheel. Together with the help of Max they moved up some more and then did their thing. Bene went a bit early but still got in 4th of the field and 11th overall. But the best thing is how well the team already works together without having any experience in racing together. We like to think it’s like that when you race with your really close friends. Crew love is true love.
