The Kettensäge is built for all in gravel racing. We took the racing DNA of the Kreissäge RS and its integrated cabling, and translated it into a bike fit for off-road racing. The Kettensäge, our ultimate gravel race bike, was born. Made in Italy from Dedacciai Aegis aluminium tubing, the Kettensäge boasts technical advantages that make all the difference.
Starting with the SLT CeramicSpeed headset bearings, made for the most grueling riding scenarios. Featuring an oil-encapsulated solid plastic polymer and stainless-steel components, these bearings are self-lubricating, corrosion-resistant, maintenance-free and come with a lifetime warranty. They truly remove the headaches from integrated headsets.
The UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) optimises shift performance as well as creates a sensible solution for replacing damaged hangers. It’s becoming the standard and is available in almost every bike shop in the world.
Aegis tubing is a collaboration with our partner Dedacciai. State-of-the-art lightweight tubes designed for racing and high-performance aluminium bicycles.
The tire width of choice for gravel racers worldwide is 700x40c but if you want, you can fit up to 45mm (measured) in the Kettensäge. To accompany your fueling strategy for gravel racing, we also included mounts for a top tube snack bag.
Now that we've introduced you to the Kettensäge, let's introduce you to the team behind this campaign.
"What would be the most iconic spot to shoot the new Kettensäge campaign?" "Of course, the white roads of Tuscany." "Are you sure?" "Yes, sure."
This is a little glimpse of the conversation with our Head of Marketing, Benedict, and was one of the many questions we raised to make the new Kettensäge campaign a special one. Since the Kettensäge is a brand new product to the Standert lineup, we were sure that we wanted to create something that represents the brand, values the product, and celebrates the culture of photography and filmmaking. One thing we knew right away was we wanted to work with the newest additions to the Standert Family roster – Julia and Lalabelle. With these outstanding cyclists, we believed that the landscape around the Strade Bianchi would be a nice subject and a great fit for our visualization of the Kettensäge campaign.
The truth is, we had a rental car tire puncture, forgotten PIN numbers, too many dead ends, and lots of other challenges during production. Thankfully, we had a great team on our side: Adriaan Louw from London was our desired director, photographer Conny Mirbach from Munich, well-known for his Mediterranean style and dynamic approach, and Hannah as our producer, who really made the shoot happen. Adriaan and Conny quickly agreed to shoot the campaign on film, which resulted in a very special look and feel.
One of the highlights was the red Vespa that not only gave the creatives the opportunity to shoot from a different perspective, but was such a fun factor to have on the shoot. Bene and Werner in particular enjoyed cruising on white gravel roads and cypress alleys. The Vespa became our mobile friend that helped us out and did the magic trick. Needles to say, we ate pizza and pasta everyday and enjoyed countless Italian coffees on the go. In the end, no more questions to raise, but still one question to answer: Who is Werner?
